PHULKARI JACKET LONG - KHIVI
Refashioned traditional vintage phulakri embroidery work transformed into a timeless, one of a kind long jacket.
Mata Khivi was the wife of the second Sikh Guru, Guru Angad. She is Is the force behind the establishment of present day Sewa and Langar in Sikhism.
This vintage phulkari long jacket honours Mata Khivi with its muted fiery colours, brass button closures, stern long sleeves and a straight hem. While ‘phulkari’ means floral work, it doesn’t just include flowers but also vibrant geometric shapes and motifs as well. The dynamic darn stitch on the wrong side of the fabric with resham thread is a trademark Punjabi craft practised by the women embodying as well as celebrating womanhood in all its prettiness and pluck.
