INDIGO SHIBORI - GRADED HORIZONTAL RIPPLES

A sunningly beautiful indigo shibori kantha quilt,  made by the artisans of LIVING BLUE. The front a graded horizontal shibori pattern, - reminscent of the patterns waves make on the sand in the shallows. Three diminshing panels of intensity of indigo blue; the reverse showing  fine white hand stitiching resulting on a plain indigo background.

LIVING BLUE is about fair trade where the artisans not only get a fair wage and democratically manage and run their own businesses, but also have total control over profits.The surplus generated by these various social enterprises contribute to the general well-being of local communities and help to create sustainable social, cultural and economic life.

Any mismatching of patterns, or dye splotches, speak to the nature of the hand made, and are to be celebrated - perfection in the imperfect. A timeless piece to be treasured.
